The Self-care Test

Am I practising self-care? Is it any good?

What is self-care?

Self-care is an important part of preventing mental or physical illness. It is relevant to EVERYONE. In simple terms it means an individual looking after their health using strategies that work for them. Examples may include – food choices, exercise, sleep, health care, talking to someone you trust when you feel stressed, having a hot bath…..etc.

Why is it important?

Effective self-care prevents disease, and mental illness, promotes and maintains health, builds resilience, and individuals become better at dealing with stress and even live longer!

Effective self-care is even more important for individuals who are competing or performing in intense, competitive environments. To reach your full performance potential you must develop resilience and good self-awareness of what you need – especially when things are difficult.
